Whether you want to glam up every day and take the perfect golden hour pictures, or sit around in joggers with your hair in 3-day-old plaits, these are some helpful tips to revitalise your beauty routine and still maintain that little bit of glam when sporting a bare face. Do it for yourself!
Skincare is everything
Now is the time to give your skin a breather and focus on creating your own natural glow! Invest in a nice spray toner and give your face a bit of a spritz in the morning and moisturise twice a day- once in the morning and once before bed to wake up with a shiny youthful glow. It also helps to put a few different types of face masks on your 'apocalypse essential' weekly shopping list for a bit of a pamper.
Remember, drinking 2L (I like it with a wedge of lemon) a day also counts as skincare so drink up!

…So is nail care
I’m used to painting my nails bright colours and re-painting them as soon as I see the slightest chip, but I’ve decided to give my nails a (semi) break by slabbing a couple coats of this nail strengthening polish on them. It works like a dream as it’s making my nails grow not only faster, but stronger, ready for me to rush down to the nail salon and get gels put back on them the second we leave isolation!

Mascara and lip balm weather has come early
Before self-isolation I had gotten into the unhealthy habit of wearing make-up every single day- to uni, to the supermarket, anywhere where my face will be seen for even a second! So, I’ve taken this as the perfect opportunity to limit my time with make-up and let my skin a bit of chill with just a little bit of mascara and lip balm! This has severely boosted my confidence as bare-faced is the new norm for me and has made me develop a natural glow which I haven’t seen for years! Invest in a good mascara and pop on a bit of lip balm for the classic ‘natural glam’ look.

Root spray is there to save the day
For those of you who have baked enough banana bread to fill a bakery and you're not ready to have a Britney moment just yet…you may be considering either dying your hair a vibrant colour for the first time or attempting to fix your dark roots yourself. I felt just the same, I had already put brassy blonde hair dye in my Amazon basket. That was until I saw my hairdresser post on her Insta story begging her clients to not cut or dye their own hair (it was almost as if she could read my mind through the screen!). Instead she urged us all to purchase root spray instead. I’d seen the L’Oreal Paris root spray advertised on TV as a cover-up spray for grey roots, but now it makes total sense to give this a go during a nationwide lockdown where you won’t see your hairdresser for months. This thing has been a dream so far!

Give yourself an (almost) NATURAL tan
Like many typical uni students, I love slabbing on a bit of St Moritz tan the day before a night out and looking like I’d been on a two-month cruise in the Mediterranean even though I’ve just been sat in my flat with the blind closed doing uni work all week.
This gradual tanner has been a game-changer for me as it’s been giving me a natural glow slowly and even bringing out some of the freckles on my face! It’s just a nice little confidence boost to compliment the barefaced selfies you end up avidly taking during lockdown!

Oh, hello coconut oil
Before lockdown I had absolutely HARASSED my long hair by using bleach, chemical-heavy purple shampoo and obliterating it with hairdryers, straighteners and curlers. It was in desperate need for some rejuvenation, so when better to do it than self-isolation where no-one can see your 7-day-old hair?! I am definitely one of those people who are guilty for washing their hair at least every other day, so I decided to take a break and wash my hair between one to two times a week.
On the now limited days that I wash my hair I start by getting a dollop of virgin coconut oil and start heating it up for a few seconds in the microwave until it’s liquid, then I put some on my fingers and slowly rub it from the centre to the ends of my hair (there’s no need to put it on your roots as this may make it more greasy and harder to wash out!), focusing on any dead ends or dry patches. I then put it up in a shower cap and leave for an hour before washing out and shampooing and conditioning, and viola! Beautifully smooth and clean hair for the week ahead.
